NetTokyo is an annual event I've been co-organzing with other community group leaders in Tokyo since 2005. The original goal was to bring together and cross-pollinate different networks of people that otherwise would not meet, mix and mingle. All profits go to charity and we have raised 3 million yen over the last few years. (The organizers of course take no money, we buy our own tickets and keep costs to an absolute minimum).
The last 3 years have been a great success. It's simply a casual, summer Saturday afternoon business networking event with some nice raffle prizes, and everyone goes away having had a great time and having met lots of new people. There's always a good buzz. We make sure to find a venue with ample outdoor space so people can enjoy the summer sun. Some people bring their families.
Our goal is a 1000 person event in 2010 (maybe at Tokyo Dome - anyone have any contacts?) and we are building up to that by aiming for 400-500 this year. We have a great venue and the sponsors (the packages are very reasonable) are rolling in It's going to be a blast!
